Game 26: SET

As it says, SET is a game of visual perception - and you've got to be quick about both visualizing and perceiving!  A set is a group of three cards that have each of 4 characteristics matching or all four characteristics not matching in each category - number, shape, color and shading.  Examples of sets are given at the bottom of this post.  This is an intense game, not a game in which you can carry on a casual conversation.  You always have to be on the lookout so that you can spot a set before someone else does.  Once you spot a set, you call it, then you remove those three cards from the table, and three more are laid face up in their place.  The cards are laid out in a 3x4 array as shown two pictures down.

Towards the end of the game you will (hopefully) have a large number of sets gathered in front of you.  The game ends when there are no longer any sets to be found in the array and all cards have been used.
The next three pictures are examples of sets.  The picture below shows a set because all three cards are THE SAME color, but all three cards have DIFFERENT shapes, shadings and numbers of items.

The picture below shows a set because all three cards are DIFFERENT in EVERY WAY: shapes, shadings, colors, and numbers of items.

You can play SET solitaire online at this link.  There is a new puzzle posted daily.
